Having established during an economic downturn our community as well as town and county were in need of something to boost growth. We started under the name of Spectrum for Living. The momentum was a bit slow, however we pursued the National Register Nomination for the Colored High School. We knew its significance could be used as a catalyst for economic development, social, cultural and other activities that would benefit, not only West Harper Street, but our city, county and surrounding communities as well. The signage above was erected at 108 Kingold Blvd, Snow Hill NC. We established our after school program, business incubator initiative, Museum in Schools Program with N.C. Museum of Science and History, programs for youth with Greene County Agricultural Agency, a partnership This was an extension to our office at the Colored School (a Washington/Rosenwald School) located at 602 West Harper Street, We were established under the N.C. Rural Economic Development Center as a Community Development Corporation. We obtained years of valuable training in housing, grant writing, economic development and other areas to prepare us as leaders of our rural communities. We continue an established relationship with the N.C. Rural Center as an Alumni of their Rural Economic Development Institute. Our We welcome our visitors to our site. We hope the information shared is educational, informative and inspiring. We have spent years of gathering research to substantiate the numerous oral histories gathered from family members as well as community members. The United States, North Carolina, Snow Hill, Greene County and surrounding areas have the vines of our African History growing through them.
